Can faith alone save us? Yes!

handofgod

James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

Do we need to mix our faith with works to be saved? Is this what James was saying in this passage?

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Salvation, or eternal life with God, is a free gift.  A priceless gift.  We cannot earn a gift.  Unfortunately we are taught from an early age that even the gifts that we receive, have to be earned.  This is the message we give to children when we tell them, “be good or Santa won’t come”.  So Satan has even associated the birth of our Savior, with earning a gift.  If a person were to scrimp, and save their entire life, to give the gift of a million dollars to someone, and that person mowed their lawn or shoveled their walk and said, ” now we are even”,  this is somewhat comparable to thinking we can earn our salvation.

What then was James referring to?  Lets look at the whole passage in context.

James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

If we we have faith that God will supply all our needs,  and are afraid to give that which we have, then our faith is dead. It cannot profit, or save, the person in need. No glory is given to God, when we hide our light under a basket. If we say we have faith to lay hands on the sick and heal them, and never reach out and pray for and touch the sick and diseased, then our faith is dead. It does not profit, or save, the sick and diseased.

Mathew 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Jesus wants us to be like him.  He gave his life freely for us. And wants us in turn, to freely give to others.

How to protect ourselves from a dangerous world.

How can we protect ourselves and our families from an increasingly dangerous and corrupt world?  Much of the food we eat is contaminated in one way or another. New antibiotic resistant diseases are being discovered.  Bird flu, Asian flu, swine flu, are constantly in and out of the news. Cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and a host of other illnesses are on the rise. The economy is weak and unstable. All this coupled with a government and news media that is constantly hyping war, and the threat of terrorist attacks. These, and many other conditions we find the world in, can seem overwhelming, and at times quite scarey. Jesus saw the generation we now live in, along with every preceding generation. Nothing the world is going through is surprising to him, or has caught him off guard. He wants us to be at peace and trust in him.

I hear quite often on the news, the latest food scare. Some item or another is being pulled off the shelf, do to one form of contamination or another.  Paul wrote this to Timothy,

1 Timothy 4:4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.  Sanctify means to set apart, make holy or purify.  Lets return to the old fashion practice of thanking God for our food, and asking him to bless it. Jesus spoke this concerning his followers.

Mark 16:17And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

I am not advocating tempting God by handling deadly snakes or drinking poison.  But if such things were to occur, we can as Christian’s expect supernatural intervention.

When it comes to disease or sickness we read this.

Psalm 91:5-7 5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

When we come in contact with disease, or sickness, we should not fear catching, or being contaminated by it. As the preceding verse stated, ” they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Jesus never came down with a case of  leprosy. We have the power of God living inside of us, the power to cast out devils, heal the sick, cleanse the leper, raise the dead.

Concerning the economy Paul writes,

1 Timothy6:17Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

We need to put our trust in God and not in uncertain riches. God became angry at David for numbering the troops of Israel. If we trust in the numbers in our bank accounts, or the numbers in the stock market, we are putting our trust in them, and not in God.

Romans 8:31-32 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

God’s will is to freely give us all things, not because of anything we have done, but because of what Christ has done for us. Deut.9:  6Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.

God will not give us the promised land due to OUR righteousness, but through the righteousness that comes from believing in him, and in his Son Jesus.

Romans 4:3For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Lets trust in the righteousness that comes from faith in Jesus, and believe in his word, and not put our trust in things of this world.

Satan, a roaring lion.

1Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:  Satan is roaring at us everywhere we turn. Out of our TV’s and radios. Across the internet. In newspapers and magazines. In movies and the music industry. He is a master at creating, confusion, distrust, anger, anxiety, temptation, depression, and distraction.  On a warm summer day, roll down the windows in your car and you will hear him roar, blasting out of the radio of the cars nearby. Walk down any street at night, and you will see the blue glow and flicker of one of his favorite modes of communication.  In turn, go anywhere and you will be hard pressed to find a Bible, or anyone listening to, or talking about, the word of God.

Satan is pictured as a roaring lion by the apostle Peter, roaming about, looking for those he can devour. For a born again Christian, Satan is also a defeated foe. A lion who’s teeth were pulled and claws removed,  at the cross. Colossians 2: 15And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.  Do we then need to be careful of this defeated foe? Yes!  The devil can not, knock us over the head and take what is ours, but  he is both subtle, and bellicose in his approach.  2 Corinthians 11: 3But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.  So Paul is describing Satan as deceiving subtly, and Peter describes him as a roaring lion.  We need to beware of both of his approaches.

Jesus on the other hand is pictured as, The Good Shepherd.  He does not shout out his message from every street corner, neither does he try and deceive us into trusting him. God offers us his free gift of salvation, through faith in his son Jesus, and leaves the decision up to us. How can we protect ourselves from Satan, this crafty deceiver? By listening to less of his roaring, and more of the beautiful voice of our good shepherd, Jesus. As the scriptures say: John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Iran,Israeli war.

President Obama gave a speech this morning to The American Israel Public Affairs Committee . In it he reiterated his support for the nation of Israel, and his commitment to keep Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. In his speech he stated,

“Of course, peace is hard to achieve. There’s a reason why it has remained elusive for six decades.”

Romans 3:16-19 Destruction and misery are in their ways:17And the way of peace have they not known:18There is no fear of God before their eyes.19Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

True peace comes from knowing Jesus, the Prince of Peace. All man’s attempts at obtaining peace ultimately fail. The League of Nations was formed at the end of WWI, to give the world a place to resolve its disputes and differences. And the United Nations came about at the end of WWII. World War One was known as the war to end all wars, because the world had never seen bloodshed and carnage on such a global level. Yet only twenty one years later Hitler invaded Poland to begin WWII. President Obama later in his speech had this to say,

“Iran’s leaders should know that I do not have a policy of containment; I have a policy to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. And as I’ve made clear time and again during the course of my presidency, I will not hesitate to use force when it is necessary to defend the United States and its interests.”

At this point war between Israel and its main ally the United States, and Iran and its allies, seems to be on a collision course. If Israel makes a pre-emptive strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities, it is likely Iran will respond with a conventional missile attack against Israel. This may convince Israel’s other mid-east enemies, now is the best opportunity to strike against Israel.

God has kept the tribe of Judah in tact, since leading them out of the the land of Egypt, and into the promised land. He is still working with them.

Romans 11:1  I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

Romans11:11-12  I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.12Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?

God is keenly aware of what is happening in the middle east. Lets always, as followers of Christ, be praying for peace.

Psalm 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Why does God refer to himself as I AM?

In the book of John chapter 8, Jesus was speaking to a group of Pharisees. At one point during the conversation, the subject of Abraham was brought up. Jesus declared to them. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.”  At this saying they took up rocks to stone him. In Exodus, God appeared to Moses, and explained he would use him to deliver His people out of Egypt. Moses asked God, who shall I say has sent me, if they should ask? What shall I say is your name? God responded, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. Why did Jesus use the name I AM to Moses, and centuries later to the Pharisees? In Biblical times a persons name was very important. It helped to describe and define an individual. Adam’s name can be interpreted as soil, earth, mankind, man. Eve would be living one, or source of life. Abraham is father of a multitude, or of many. How can God describe himself to man? Simply, God is our I AM. “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19).  Whatever need we have, God is our source, and has supplied our need by Jesus. If we are lonely Jesus declares, I AM your friend. If we are sad or depressed, I AM your fountain of life. If we are confused, I AM your wisdom. If we are sick or injured, I AM your healer. If we are angry or agitated, I AM your peace. Whatever lack we have, we simply need to fill in the blank. When we look to God as THE solution to our problems, we use more of the measure of faith he has given to every believer. All glory and honor go back to the source from which it came, and we can confidently proclaim, God truly is our great I AM.

Peace, Be Still !

Mark 4: 39   And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Jesus commanded the wind and the waves to be at peace, and they had to obey him! He also wants us to be at peace. Many times in the scriptures, God instructs his children to be at peace. The more technologically advanced the world becomes, the harder it seems to be calm, and at peace. When I was young, cell phones and even answering machines were still decades in the future. If you were not near the phone, you did not receive the call, and never thought a thing of it. Now it seems if we are not constantly connected to the world, in one manner or another, were afraid of missing something.  Television, the internet, cell phones, video games, and many other modern marvels can contribute to a steady stream of  audio and visual stimulation, that make it difficult to concentrate, and be at peace.  I had a dream about ten years ago, that impacted me to such a degree, I can still vividly recall it to this day.

In the dream, I am out side walking down the street, and huge trees are floating above my head. The roots are coming out of the bottom, and the branches of the trees are covered with beautiful round colorful flowers. I go inside a nearby house, and a very old Chinese woman tells me to close my eyes. She then places her hands on my head, and very firmly presses them down my entire body until she reaches my feet. As she is doing this, a voice in my head is saying, “Slow down and see amazing things.” When her hands reach my feet, I wake up.

Since then, I have tried to not rush through things. It truly is amazing what things we can see everyday, by just slowing down. God instructs us many times throughout the Bible, to be at peace.

Isaiah 57:19-20 I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him. 20But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

God here states, he creates the fruit of the lips. We need to speak calming words, and God will create those things we speak.

Isaiah 26:3-4 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

Trusting in God brings peace. We need to bring our problems and burdens to him, and not try and work everything out by our own efforts and abilities.

Proverbs 3: 5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace. He is the source of peace. By trusting in him, and spending more time studying, and meditating on his word, and less time drawn away by the distractions of a modern world, we can come to know true peace in our lives.

John14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Alien contact, UFO’s and God.

In response to the question, ” How many people have reported seeing a UFO.”  Wikianswers estimates the number to be 100,000,000 worldwide as of 2010. The History channel is full of programing, devoted to the UFO phenomenon.  In a Discovery Channel documentary, Stephen Hawking had this to say about alien life.

“If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans,” he said. “We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet.”In the new program, “Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking,” he speculated that aliens’ capabilities “would be only limited by how much power they could harness and control, and that could be far more than we might first imagine.”He said it might even be possible for aliens to harvest the energy from an entire star.”Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach,” Hawking said.

Seeds of deception are planted everywhere by Satan, to lead astray God’s elect. We need to be mindful of them, and guard ourselves against them. Evolution teaches, that if the conditions are right, life can spring from non-life.  If  life by chance, started on Earth because the conditions were right, it only makes sense, that it would have sprang up on other planets as well. For many years the problem was, there was no proof of other planets.  That problem has now been overcome by science. An amazing amount of information is being collected about our Universe, primary among which, is the existence of  perhaps billions of other planets. Many already have been determined to be in what astronomers call, the goldilocks zone. Not to hot or cold, just the right distance from their sun to produce life. The problem is, life does not begin with the right conditions, it begins with God.  Verifiable contact with an extraterrestrial civilization, would certainly be the biggest story in the history of the world. These aliens could bring a message of  peace, proclaiming to mankind that we are not alone in the Universe, and cooperation amongst ourselves is what is needed, to bring about peace and prosperity to our world.  This close encounter of the third kind, along with the emergence of a strong world personality, who claims to have known of their existence for some time , coupled with a world wide crisis, could be the exact formula to push the nations, and people of the world, into a one world government and religion.

2 Thessalonians 2 3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

It seems evident that we are entering into a New Age. People all over the world are prepared for a change to occur. As Christian’s we need to be vigilant, studying the Word of God, to be able to discern the truth  from lies and deception. As I mentioned earlier, the History Channel is full of UFO programming. Many in particular deal with ancient alien or UFO contact or sightings.  Cattle mutilation, UFO sightings, reports of human abduction, crop circles, all of these supernatural phenomenon, are on the rise. Dark forces of a demonic nature  have been reported, and plagued man, since the beginning of time. Satan is often pictured with a pitch fork. He often uses a many pronged attack against his enemy, the children of God. He would have us, and the world believe, that either we are not unique, that beings like ourselves, have sprung up throughout the Universe. Or, that we have been created along with our alien brothers, by him, posing as God. If and when alien, extraterrestrial contact is announced lets be cautious,  and filter everything we are told, through the Word of God.

An argument against, pre-tribulation rapture.

Much research can be done about the genesis of the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine. Most studies lead to it not being widely recognized in the church before the 1800’s. This can be debated, but the Bible itself has much to say about the end times.

Dan.7:24-25 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.25And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Here we read of the saints at the time of the coming of the Beast of Revelations, being worn out, and given into his hand. Jesus was asked what would be the signs of his coming:

Luke 21:7-19 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?8And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.9But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.10Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:11And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.12But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.13And it shall turn to you for a testimony.14Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:15For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.16And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.17And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.18But there shall not an hair of your head perish.19In your patience possess ye your souls.

In verses 18 and 19  Jesus declared some of those persecuted, would be put to death. Many in the first century church were martyred, and were not supernaturally spared this fate. Jesus also indicates this type of persecution will be witnessed at the time of his second coming. And although some shall be caused to be put to death, Jesus goes on to say, “not an hair of your head shall perish.”  Jesus was indicating here that our physical bodies are not what’s important, but it is our spiritual being that he is concerned with. Notice these verses also ,

Math. 16:25-26 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.26For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Hebrews 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

And again in Matthew,

Math. 10: 28   And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

We have no need to fear being in the world, during the Great Tribulation. Many unsaved, will apparently come to accept  Jesus as their Lord and Savior, at this time.

Revelations 7:13-14And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?14And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Perhaps we can be used in a simple, or a mighty way, to bring the lost to know Jesus. Peter was the apostle to the Jews, and Paul to the Gentiles, yet both were martyred for their beliefs, and for spreading the Good News of Jesus .

Mathew5:11-12 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

We are told by Jesus to rejoice, and be exceeding glad, if we are persecuted for Him! The Great Tribulation will be a time, when true Christian’s are persecuted for their beliefs.

Revelations 6:10-11And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?11And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Revelations 12:11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Here in Revelations chapter 6 we read that a number of fellow servants, and brethren, will be killed at the end time, as had been done during an earlier church period. Also in chapter 12 it states,  those that overcame Satan loved not their lives unto death.

Revelations 13:7-8 7And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

The Beast will be worshiped by the whole world, by everyone except those that have their names written in the book of life of the Lamb. Those that refuse to worship the Beast or anti-Christ? He will make war with them and overcome them.  The same language is used concerning the Two Witnesses.

Revelations 11:7 7And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

Many bible scholars identify theses two witnesses as Jewish and Gentile believers of Christ, or as Israel and the true church. The below definition is borrowed from Wikipedia, under the heading of ,

Two Witnesses / Identity.

In attempting to exegete Revelation 11, commentators who hold to a premillennial eschatology generally interpret the two witnesses in one of three ways: (1) as individuals either manifested in some form of reincarnation; or “in the spirit” of Biblical prophets who once appeared in Bible history; or simply as two individuals newly arrived on the earth; (2) as corporate in nature (human) standing for the Church only or for Israel only; or both Israel and the Church; or for both Jewish and Gentiles believers in Jesus; or (3) as symbolism or an expression of biblical concepts (i.e., the Old and New Testaments; the Law and the Prophets;[4] Mercy and Grace)

It is quite possible that as Christians, we will be martyred for our witnessing of the truth, and grace, that is our Lord Jesus.

Isaiah 57:1-2 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. 2He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

The music industry, and the occult.

NICKI MINAJ 54th GRAMMY AWARDS PERFORMANCE 2012 – YouTube.

If there was ever any doubt that the music industry has strong ties to the occult, the 2012 Grammy Awards performance by Nicki Minaj should put those doubts to rest. This was a prime example of an occult ritual, being passed off as entertainment on prime time network television. And this came at the same time as Whitney Houston’s death. Who on many occasions had given testimony to her Christian beliefs and upbringing. Satan and the occult are alive and well in Hollywood, the music industry, government and the world in general. As Christians we need to resist the temptations of this world, and stay focused on “the  prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14.  I believe the time is soon approaching, when true Christian’s will be the most mocked and ridiculed group of people on the face of the earth. Satan is laying the ground work for this in a number of ways. True Christians will be seen as stodgy, narrow minded, and superstitious, stuck in an outdated belief system that is preventing the world from achieving true enlightenment and peace. John 16:2-3 2They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.3And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

What is the will of God?

The Lord’s prayer has included in it the verse, “thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” But how can we be certain what God’s will is? When Jesus prayed that the Father’s will be done on earth as in heaven, he was proclaiming the kingdom of God. In God’s kingdom his will is always done, in heaven by his servants. On earth man can appose God’s will, but this is not what God chooses. It is important to know God’s will on a matter. It gives us confidence, and builds up our faith, knowing that we are asking for something, or doing something, according to his will.  Psalms 119 tell us this.

Psalm 119: 89For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

Gods word is settled. If he said it, that’s the way it is. God the Father is a loving parent. He has made us a part of his family. Jesus is our elder brother, who cares deeply for us. They always want the best for us. God tries to explain his love for us at times, by using the example of a human father and son relationship. Or the relationship between a new bride and groom. The love a man has for his bride on their wedding day, cannot describe the love God has for his children. And although a man’s love for a wife or a child is far from perfect, God’s love for us is perfect.

Luke 11:11 – 13If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?13If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

God’s most priceless gift to us is his Son, and his Holy Spirit. If he is willing to give these priceless gifts to us, then he is willing to give us all good things. In the above verse, God says even an earthly, carnal father, knows how to give good gifts to their children.

Romans 8: 31-32 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

God’s will is to share all his good gifts with us. That’s the way he is. He wants to share with us, and wants us in turn, to share with others.

James 1;17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

There is no darkness in God. Every way we look at him, we see only light and goodness. It is Satan, who’s kingdom is the kingdom of darkness, pain , suffering, war, fear, and so on.

It is God’s will for us to be healthy.

Psalm 103:2-3 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

To be at peace, and not fearful.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

To be prosperous, and have our needs taken care of.

3 John 1: 2Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

To be fruitful and multiply.

Psalm 128: 3Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.

If you are a parent, try and think what you would want for your children. This is similar to God’s will for us. Finally, James warns us why, we may not see everything we ask for.

James 4:2-3 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. 3Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

God always wants whats best for us. His will is to give us all good things. By knowing this, and studying his word. We can be confident that we know, The will of God.
