What was the gospel of Jesus?

Jesus and his apostles wrote again and again about the gospel, or good news. What was the good news that Jesus came to proclaim to the world? It was the gospel of the kingdom of God. You can find this mentioned in Matthew 4:23, “And Jesus went about all Galilee teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of diseases among the people.” Luke 9:11 “And the people when they knew it followed him, and he received them, and he spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing. He told his disciples to likewise go and preach the kingdom of God. Luke 10:9 “And heal the sick that are therin and say unto them, the kingdom of God is come near unto you.” The kingdom of God was preached in association with miracles and healings. Paul wrote in 1Corinthians 4:20 “The kingdom of God is not in word but in power.” Jesus came to restore mankind to the previous state of harmony and peace with God that it knew prior to the fall from grace, that came from believing Satan’s lie, in the garden of Eden.

The entire Bible is a book written from God to mankind explaining who we are, how we got here, and where we are going. Adam and Eve ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Mankind has been struggling with that knowledge ever since. Gods desire for you and I is to put away the knowledge or thoughts of evil from our minds. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we have consciously made a decision more powerful then the one made by Adam and Eve. We have declared that He is our Savior and God, and we become a child of God. Our sins are eternally forgiven, we are righteous because Jesus is righteous. 1 John 4:17 “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement, because as he is so are we in this world.” In preaching and teaching the gospel of Gods kingdom, Jesus was telling the people to repent or turn from their evil thoughts, that lead to evil actions. And enter Now, into Gods kingdom. Not some distant kingdom that would perhaps come in thousands of years. John 18:36 Jesus answered, “my kingdom is not of this world.” and when the Pharisees demanded that Jesus tell them when the kingdom of God should come he answered, Luke17:20-21 “The kingdom of God cometh not with observation. Neither shall they say lo here or lo there, for behold the kingdom of God is within you.” Jesus was teaching that, within us, is the Holy Spirit of God. By entering into his kingdom, we act as the children of God that he knows us to be. We are all daily still listening to lies told to us by the god of this world. Jesus had this to say of Satan, John 8:43-45 ” Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.” Lies are what keep us trapped in a self made prison. The walls of that prison are our own minds. Ezekiel 13:22  “Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad;” Lies told by Satan since the garden of Eden are what is holding us back from entering Gods Kingdom now, in this world, at this moment. John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Jesus is the Word of God. John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” The Word of God is truth. John 17:16 “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” We are not of this world when we enter the kingdom of God. We enter that kingdom when we begin to believe the Word of God, instead of the lies of Satan. Psalm 78:40 “How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.” Israel was a type of Gods Kingdom, a land flowing with milk and honey. God wanted it to be a place of peace and prosperity for his people. Only Joshua and Caleb were allowed to enter that kingdom because they were not afraid of the obstacles they saw, but rather believed in the word and promises of God. We have the same choices to make today. The enemies that God had them destroy were not necessarily physical peoples, giants and tribes, that God command they destroy. They were instead archetypes of the battles we must fight everyday in our minds. Negative thoughts that must be destroyed and replaced with Godly thoughts. Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” We can limit what God can do by our negative thoughts and actions. We can also limit God by believing that we are less then gods ourselves, and because of this, by our in-action. John 10:33 “The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?”

Finally, what would it be like to live now, in Gods Kingdom? John 4:23 “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” 1 Corinthians 3:16 “ Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” We are the Spirit of God in body’s of flesh. The Bible states we are the, body of Christ. Satan through the lies told to us through false blogs, podcasts, social media, commercials, news reports and a host of other means has us believing we are helpless creatures incapable of miracles or healings. We are told we evolved from amoebas in a puddle, eventually into apes, and now we are little more then an evolutionary byproduct of random chance. I am here to preach to you, the kingdom of God. You are sons and daughters of the living creator of the vast universe and beyond. Jesus told his disciples, Matthew 10:7 “And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” Refuse to give thought to Satan’s lies of sickness, disease, poverty, depression, ect. Enter now into God’s Kingdom. This is the gospel taught by Jesus and his disciple. John 14:12  “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” People were healed by the mere shadow of Peter passing by them. We limit God when we limit ourselves, and what we expect of ourselves. Jeremiah 29:10 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
